Have you helped many trade members?

Yes, the National Benevolent Society of Watch and Clock Makers has been providing financial help for over 200 years, to thousands in the UK watch and clock trade and continues to provide much appreciated assistance


Who can apply?

Those who work or have worked in the UK Watch and Clock trade, or their surviving partners and dependants who find themselves in financial difficulties, due to problems such as sickness, redundancy, or age


Will your grant payments affect my benefits?

No, our charitable grants will not affect your entitlement to benefits


Does your charity welcome new applicants?

Yes, many people find help difficult to access and often feel uncomfortable with asking for assistance, but our Society is happy to receive applications and as our beneficiaries confirm, we are friendly and approachable. To hear from our beneficiaries click here


How regular are the payments?

Grants are paid quarterly at the discretion of the Trustees, and we can either provide short or long-term assistance, dependent on need


Do you contribute towards individual items?

Not usually, however you can apply, providing information about the item which you need to purchase e.g. scooters, stair lifts etc and should you qualify for assistance the Trustees may approve payment of a grant, part of which could be used for the item required.


How can I apply?

Applications should be made by requesting a form from the Administrator. Completed applications can be submitted by individuals, or through a social worker, charity, welfare agency or citizen’s advice bureau. All applications are treated in strict confidence. Do you need donations to help support your work?

Yes, our income comes from investments and from vital donations and legacies received. With world problems impacting investment income, the vital work of the Society becomes more reliant than ever before on the kindness of donors


Can I help support your charity?

Yes, by clicking the Donate button below and donating today. Donations can also be raised by naming us as a preferred charity for a funeral collection or event you are running, and individuals can leave a legacy in their will. Is it easy to donate?

Yes, clicking the Donate button offers a variety of payment options and enables registration for Gift Aid at the same time; ideal for those with busy lifestyles


Can corporate donors save tax on donations to your charity?

Yes, tax relief can be used to reduce Corporation Tax in your year-end computations. To find out more click here


How does Gift Aid help your charity?

If donors are UK taxpayers and they tick yes to Gift Aid, the government will pay our charity an Extra 20% on top of your donation.  To find out more click here


Would my donation be used wisely?

Yes, as a relatively small charity, we can keep our running costs very low so that the maximum possible funds can be used to support our beneficiaries. Every donation, large or small will support the work of the charity and our beneficiaries
